Tom Butcher
Divisional Finance Manager
Tom manages the divisional financial planning calendar and supports all MPLS departments through a range of monthly reporting tasks (e.g. journal gap, balance sheet reconciliations, financial assurance dashboards). He is also secretary to the Divisional Finance Committee.
Reporting into the Divisional Financial Controller, Tom directly supports the departments of Chemistry, Materials, Earth Sciences and Maths in the management of their financial affairs.
Tom joined the University in 2020, working in the department of Physics, and moved to MPLS in 2023. Prior to this, he held several roles in industry and practice, having qualified as a chartered accountant in 2016. Outside of work, he is a keen musician (having read music at Somerville College as an undergraduate) and enjoys hiking and running in the British countryside.
