The Royal College of Pathologists offer up to £1k to support pathology-related activities and events in the UK for the public.

The Public Engagement Innovation Grant scheme is open to individuals and organisations to develop and deliver public engagement activities that relate to pathology. The project must include practising pathologists, but grants are open to anyone in the UK (whether a member of the college or not).

Grants are for up to £1,000 and can for any costs associated with delivering public engagement activities (noting that business as usual costs cannot be claimed, such as costs for existing employees and regularly delivered activities).

The Innovation Grant Scheme aims to:

  • Inspire innovative and creative pathology-related public engagement projects and activities
  • Raise public awareness of, and engagement with, pathology, in particular with those who would not normally engage with the topic
  • Develop the science communication skills of pathologists and laboratory scientists
  • Stimulate discussion about pathology between pathologists and the public in order to motivate, inspire and enthuse both parties about the value of pathology and its role in prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

Projects should be pathology-based and explore underlying concepts and issues, rather than just providing information, target a defined public audience, and demonstrate an awareness of public interests and concerns. Applications should also provide a clear plan to evaluate the activitiy.

You will find previously funded project information on the RCPath website (link below) to inspire your ideas and get a sense of the sorts of activities the college are looking for.

Deadline for applications is 23:59 UTC on 1 July 2023.
