MPLS is seeking an academic member of staff with impact and/or innovation experience and with an interest in developing university-wide innovation strategy to participate in the University's Knowledge Exchange and Impact Sub-Committee (KEISC). Experience can be from any form of impact generation, including but not limited to policy work, working with industry or other non-academic partners, spinning-out a company etc. The University is about to embark on refreshing its five year Knowledge Exchange strategy in response to the requirements of the national Knowledge Exchange Concordat and the renewal of HEIF funding, and KEISC will play a key role in shaping this strategy. The role will provide an opportunity to feed into discussions and decisions, learn more about the impact landscape across the four academic divisions, and offers an opportunity to meet others with an interest and responsibility for delivering impact from their research from across the University. 

KEISC is a sub-committee of the University Research & Innovation Committee, which reports to Council. MPLS can appoint two representatives. MPLS’s representative on the committee is currently Professor Dermot O’Hare is his capacity as Associate Head of Division (Industrial Liaison and Innovation); the second position is currently vacant. The committee meets once per term for two hours per meeting. You will be supported in this role by the MPLS attending officer. 

The committee Terms of Reference describe its full responsibilities. These include strategic oversight and support for the implementation of the innovation and knowledge exchange related priorities from the university strategic plan. KEISC also coordinates the university response to the Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) and are responsible for and the allocation and oversight of the Higher Education Innovation Funding stream from Research England. 

Committee members serve for six terms in the first instance.
