MPLS Academic HR Team
The Academic HR team deals with the divisional aspects of processes relating to MPLS academic appointments and posholders.
The Divisional office has responsibility for the management of administrative procedures and processes relating to all academic appointments in the Division e.g. recruitment, reviews (initial period review and re-appointment - i.e. tenure), retirement, sabbatical and other leave for Associate Professors and Statutory Professors. The academic HR team supports departments in the processes that apply for academic appointments and liaises with colleges and University bodies as needed. The academic HR team also supports personnel matters in relation to some other posts, particularly RSIV senior research posts, and in relation to the recruitment protocol and reward processes (some of which are available for Associate Professors, Professors and other staff).

Recruitment to academic posts (new posts and refillings) including professorial appointments; non-standard cases; college association; professorial merit pay and other merit exercises for academic staff; retention cases. Providing advice and guidance to heads of department, heads of administration and finance and HR officers on all aspects of academic appointments.

Responsibility for administrative processes underpinning the recruitment protocol and academic appointments including: recruitment protocol and headcount control business; recognition of distinction exercises; review of job descriptions and selection panels; drafting of contracts; mid-period and final review of initial periods of appointment.

Responsibility for administrative processes underpinning academic appointments including: drafting of contracts; new starters; resignations and retirements; sabbatical, maternity, paternity and other leave; changes to salaries or additional payments; visiting professors; maintenance of records.
