The Associate Head (Research) supports the Head of Division on research-related matters, working closely with staff in the divisional office.

They are a member of the Division’s senior academic leadership team, attend MPLS Board and General Purposes Committee, and represent MPLS on several University committees (including Research Committee and the John Fell Fund Committee). The role also involves liaising with key funders, at a strategic level; and chairing peer review/sift panels for internal funding schemes, or for external calls where an institutional quota applies. During 2019/20, the post-holder will also be part of the small team responsible for overseeing the REF 2021 submissions to Main Panel B. The term of office for Associate Heads is usually three years, and a responsibility allowance is payable.
