A*STAR - information for students
The A*STAR - University of Oxford Partnership DPhil Programme (AOP) is a four-year scholarship comprising two years of DPhil studies at University of Oxford, and two years at an A*STAR Research Institute (RI) in Singapore. DPhil research training will be carried out under the supervision of senior scientists from the University of Oxford and an A*STAR RI. Successful students will be conferred a DPhil degree by the University of Oxford. An A*STAR Graduate Scholarship provides four years of DPhil funding.
Funding covers all fees and provides a generous stipend and other allowances. Full details can be found on the A*STAR website
Please note only Singaporean nationals and others intending to take up Singaporean citizenship are eligible for this programme.
How to apply
- Choose your project. To search for the projects in the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences (MPLS) Division you should visit the website of the department that interests you. To search for projects in the Medical Sciences Division you should go to the website of the Medical Sciences Graduate School
- Start your application to A*STAR via the online portal
- Identify and get in touch with possible Oxford and Singapore supervisors. It is beneficial if the supervisors have an existing collaboration, but you can also help them to set one up. Make sure you attach your CV and a draft research proposal when contacting possible supervisors by email. Please copy in firstname.lastname@example.org when contacting Oxford supervisors.
- Once you have agreed with the potential supervisors that the project is feasible apply formally to the University of Oxford
