Update from MPLS on Funding Extensions

On Thursday, UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) announced that up to six months of additional funding would be made available for all UKRI-funded students who are currently in their final year and whose research has been affected by coronavirus. (URKI includes BBSRC, EPSRC, MRC and NERC.) Please consult the UKRI announcement for full details [link no longer available].

The University is awaiting detailed guidance from UKRI on how this additional funding will be administered. It is clear from the information that has been provided that any additional funding will need to be evidenced. It is therefore imperative that you continue to record any disruptions to your research in the Student Log template available on the COVID-19 MPLS PGR Communications page.

As soon as we have received guidance from UKRI we will begin the process of ensuring this additional funding can reach students as quickly as possible.

While this will be reassuring to those of you who are funded through UKRI, we appreciate that a large number of you receive funding from other sources or are self-funded. The MPLS Division is engaged in University discussions on what provision can be provided for students affected by the Covid-19 situation. We will provide further information as soon as we can. In the mean time, please follow the advice above and ensure that you record any disruptions to your research in your log.

MPLS communications sent to postgraduate research students regarding Covid-19 can be found on the COVID-19 MPLS PGR Communications page.

Official University of Oxford advice for students is published on the Coronavirus (Covid-19): advice and support for students page.

Best wishes, Mike
