The University of Oxford has been awarded £30 million in funding for cross-divisional research into how artificial intelligence can help fight numerous diseases.

Research into how gene-based therapies and AI can help people with cancer, Huntington’s and Parkinson’s disease has been given a £133 million boost from the government. From this, the University of Oxford has won £30 million in funding, which has been allocated to develop a new project called the Nucleic Acid Therapies Accelerator (NATA).

The project has been awarded funding as part of the Industrial Strategy under the Strategy Priority Funding and the successful bid was led by Professor Matthew Wood in a year-long cross-divisional effort between MPLS (Dr Deborah Spencer) and the Medical Sciences Division (Dr Maxine Allen).
