Pathways to Impact Workshop
Pathways to Impact workshop for University of Oxford early or mid-career researchers
Date: 30 May 2019 Time: 09:30-12:30
Venue: Room L5, Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford, Oxford OX2 6GG
This free facilitated Pathways to Impact workshop is exclusively for University of Oxford early or mid-career researchers planning to attend the Accelerating Impact Conference. This session aims to support and train researchers interested in achieving social and economic impact from their research.
If you understand what impact is, the broad range of ways you can deliver it and how you can evidence it you hold the key to successful fellowship and grant applications. In this interactive morning workshop, you will explore case studies supported by a range of research facilitators to develop pathways to impact. As you map the pathway, you will chart the potential impact for those linked to your research and yourself.
By the end of the morning you will have:
- An awareness of impact definitions and pathways;
- Explored what knowledge exchange and impact means in a variety of settings;
- Understood that research has a breadth of possible impacts including those on you;
- A roadmap of how to create your personal pathway to impact for funding applications.
Following on from this workshop, participants will be invited to a follow on session to review and fully develop their own research impact plans; this follow up session is planned for July 2019 (tbc).
Representatives from Research Services, Oxford University Innovation, and the MPLS Industrial Research Partnerships team will also be available to provide advice and guidance on impact funding opportunities and how to work with external non-academic organisations.
