For the third year running the University of Oxford has been ranked first in the world for Computer Science in The Times Higher Education 2021 World University Rankings. Stanford University placed second, and MIT third, in the newly released subject league table.

There are two new entries in the top 10: the National University of Singapore, which rises three places to eighth, and the University of California, Berkeley, which makes its debut in the list at ninth.

The ranking is based on criteria measuring teaching, research, industry income, international outlook and citations, which are combined to provide a comparison of universities worldwide.

The University of Oxford topped the overall university rankings for the fifth consecutive year in the 2021 table. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021 include more than 1,500 universities across 93 countries and regions.
