Professor Tom Brown has won the BBSRC’s Innovator of the Year competition for his high impact serial entrepreneurship in DNA chemistry and outstanding commitment to innovation. The award was announced on 18 May at the BBSRC Fostering Innovation event in London. 

The  Innovator of the Year Award celebrates individuals and small teams who have harnessed the potential of their excellent research to help address real world challenges. Research in the Brown Group is interdisciplinary, focusing on nucleic acid chemistry and its applications in other fields including DNA diagnostics, forensic science and nanotechnology.
