Public Engagement - opportunity
OxHOS is student-led science outreach society that run workshops for students aged 9-14 to allow them to both have fun and learn more about science through hands-on experiments.
Below is some information about up-coming opportunities to meet them and get involved:
"We are always keen to hear from people interested in getting involved, both with volunteering for our events and for helping to organise things behind the scenes. If you're at all interested in getting involved in outreach then let us know! We are really relaxed and try to offer lots of help to those that are new to science outreach
Our main event each year is our summer roadshow, where we take our science demonstrations on tour to more disadvantaged areas of the UK. If you're interested in finding out more about what we do, visit our website oxhos.org or come to one of our two events this term:
Wednesday 24th October - New Members Welcome Pub Trip
8.00pm, Wig and Pen, George Street
We'll have lots of this year's committee members and volunteers in the pub. Come find us and talk to us if you want to learn more about what we do and how you can get involved, or just to meet lots of like-minded scientists!
Tuesday 30th October - OxHOS Annual General Meeting
7.00 pm, Lecture Room 23, Balliol College
The AGM (annual general meeting) is where we talk about the future of the society, and most importantly, elect next year's committee. These are the people that will run OxHOS on a day-to-day basis! If you are at all interested in getting involved with the running of OxHOS then this is the time to get involved. There will be more information about the AGM/getting involved with the committee soon, but if you're at all interested with helping run our roadshow then get in contact! (more details about this year's committee can be found on our website oxhos.org/Current_Committee, if you want to find the sort of things we do)."
