NERC: Engaging the public with environmental science, deadline 18 May
The Natural Environment Research Council offers £5-10,000 to support projects that develop new ways to engage the public with environmental science.
The Natural Environment Research Council invites applications for its engaging the public with environmental science call. This supports projects which develop new ways to engage the public with environmental science.
The project must do at least two of the following:
- convene public debate, with contemporary issues;
- build capacity of researchers to engage with the public;
- inspire public audiences with environmental science;
- engage the public with environmental science where new opportunities have arisen;
- trial innovative public engagement with environmental science approaches;
- leadership activities in public engagement with environmental science.
Applications are encouraged from researchers and practitioners from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience, including the following groups: environmental science researchers, including early career researchers and PhD students; researchers across academic disciplines or fields outside academia; public engagement specialists; community organisations, public or public-facing groups; business, third sector and government bodies.
Applications must include, as a main or co-applicant, a researcher who is based at an eligible research organisation, working in NERC remit and eligible to apply on behalf of their organisation. PhD students are welcome to apply as the main applicant for this grant with permission from their PhD supervisor, and their doctoral training partnerships or centres for doctoral training, where applicable.
The total budget is £96,000. Grants are worth between £5,000 and £10,000.
Deadline is 4pm on 18 May.
