STFC Public Engagement Leadership Fellowship, deadline 13 Jan 2022
Up to £200k is available for researchers working in STFC areas to undertake a prolonged programme of public engagement, and play a crucial role in championing PE in their institution and discipline.
STFC leadership fellowships in public engagement are open to any applicant who can demonstrate a strong track record of leadership in their field and public engagement, appropriate to their career stage. This can be either:
- in an STFC-funded area of science and technology
- clearly underpinned by use of STFC’s national or international laboratories and facilities.
STFC are looking for people who want to:
- raise the profile of public engagement within their host organisation and professional communities
- act as academic leaders, proportionate to career stage, for engagement within their organisation.
Applicants should use their case for support to clearly explain how their leadership fellowship will further the aims of the STFC public engagement strategy (click here to read STFC's public engagement strategy).
The full economic cost of your project can be up to £200,000. STFC will fund 80% of the full economic cost.
STFC will also fund an extra 50% of full time equivalent (FTE) for administration and logistics.
The fellows are expected to remain ‘research active’ during their fellowship.
You are encouraged to contact the public engagement team to discuss your ideas.
The application is a three stage process including an initial sift, peer review panel and interview. You application should include:
- A personal statement
- A case for support (up to eight sides of A4 detailing a rationale and clear objectives that connect with STFC PE strategy, and a description of planned activities/outputs)
-
A plan for the delivery of appropriate leadership and capacity building activities
- An evaluation plan
- A dissemination plan
- A justification of resources
- Letters of support from your host institution, and any partners
Deadline is 4pm (GMT) 13 January 2022.
