Doctoral students funded by UKRI research councils are invited to apply for these three month internships, which can take place in policy organisations.

The UKRI Policy Internship Scheme is a three month internship programme for doctoral students funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) research councils.

The internships take place in policy organisations such as parliamentary departments, government departments, and non-governmental bodies.

To be eligible to apply, students must be funded by one of the UKRI research councils and be able to start their internship before the end of their funded period of study.

Funding for the internships is provided by the research councils and other sources. Doctoral stipends should continue to be paid by the research organisation throughout the three month internship period.

The application process is two stage: a written application (including a signed funding and permissions form and a policy briefing). Applicants successful at this stage will then be invited to interview.
