\n \n \n \nFive researchers from the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division (MPLS) have been recognised for their outstanding research impact at the annual MPLS Impact Awards.

\n \n \n \nIn October 2022 the University of Oxford became one of nine leading research universities around the world selected to deliver the Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellowship programme. Ten Fellows were recruited to Oxford in 2023 and this year a further 15 Fellows are joining them.

\n \n \n \nIn total, four University of Oxford researchers, two of whom are from MPLS, have been awarded ERC Advanced Grants of up to \u20ac2.5 million each to explore their most innovative and ambitious ideas. These grants recognise leading researchers who have a proven track record of significant achievements.

\n \n \n \nThe UK\u2019s biggest-ever investment in engineering and physical sciences doctoral skills, totalling more than \u00a31 billion nationwide, has been announced today by the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology. It includes funding for over 300 fully-funded DPhil studentships at Oxford in strategic research areas.

\n \n \n \nERC Starting Grants are part of the Horizon Europe programme and support early-career researchers who demonstrate great promise. Projects span all disciplines of research, from medicine and physics, to social sciences and humanities. All four awarded to Oxford University this year have been made to MPLS researchers.
