The Enhancing Teaching Programme (ETP)-Sciences is led by the Oxford Learning Institute. It provides early career academic staff (typically with one to five years of teaching experience in higher education) with a structured, time-conscious pathway to a professional teaching qualification which is mapped to the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) for Teaching and Supporting Learning in Higher Education.

The ETP-Sciences is designed to accommodate the schedules of busy teaching academics at Oxford. There are two cohorts per year beginning in either Michaelmas or Hilary Term; participants are expected to attend seven interactive workshops (held outside term time) and to commit some additional time beyond these workshops to undertake practical assignments and teaching tasks (e.g. reading some educational literature; undertaking teaching observations). The ETP-Sciences is assessed via a written, reflective teaching portfolio (7,000-12,000 words); support for writing the portfolio is provided by the Learning Institute.

In order to be eligible to apply for the ETP-Sciences you must have between one to five years’ experience of teaching in higher education and be engaged in some teaching at Oxford during the Programme.
