All Career development DPhil students Research staff
Wednesday, 24 February 2021 to Friday, 26 March 2021, 9.30am - 12.30pm
This three day course will help you think in detail about what you want from an academic career, and how to start to take control and design your own pathway
COURSE DETAILS
This course will be delivered online - as 6 half days covering the usual 3 full days.
On 'day one' of the course, you will work to construct your own definition of career success, looking at both what's important to you and what's required to succeed in academia.
On 'day two' you will work on your personal impact, looking at message, body language, audience and voice; and have the opportunity to see yourself on camera.
Between day two and day three (which are a month apart) you will work in a group to undertake a project; and on day three you will present the findings and outcomes of the group project and receive feedback.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of the session participants will be able to:
- Define their own individual career success
- Use the concepts of career anchors, and core and broader characteristics to approach their career development
- Identify and access resources, training and other support needed for academic career development
