If you are a STEM researcher – particularly in physical sciences and engineering – we invite you participate in one of two workshops to explore what commercialising research means to you.

We are looking for both men and women to participate, with the overall aim being to explore some of the obstacles to participation in entrepreneurship activities and help inform policy development.

  • If you want your research to make a real impact on the world outside academia, we would like to hear from you.
  • If you’ve ever or never considered spinning out your research, we’d like to hear from you.
  • If you want to carry on with your research but not sure if academia is for you, we would like to hear from you.
  • If you don’t know what ‘commercialising your research’ even means, we would like to hear from you.

This 1½ hr workshop is part of a series of focus groups that the CDPRP at Brookes are running, in collaboration with MPLS at Oxford, as part of their project on improving diversity in university spinouts. We are looking for participants at any stage of their academic career (including doctoral students and Post-docs) who are active researchers in STEM disciplines.

Your contribution will inform interventions designed to change institutional processes and practices by promoting greater diversity in university spinout companies. It is also an opportunity to learn more about opportunities and facilities in your institution designed to support you to commercialise or spinout your research.

Venue: Room LG03, Department of Statistics, 24-29 St Giles, Oxford OX1 3LB

Lunch provided.
