MPLS is offering the University's new race awareness training for staff in departments in MPLS, as part of the VC Diversity Funded project to deliver implicit bias and race awareness training across the University.  The session is aimed at managers, leaders and those in student facing roles and will be led by Machilu Zimba (Equality and Diversity Unit Policy Advisor) and Daisy Hung (MPLS Athena SWAN Facilitator).

Lunch will be provided after the training from 12pm.

Aim:  the aim of the session is to provide you with an understanding of how race can impact on equality at Oxford.

Objective: by the end of the session you will be able to:

  • Confidently speak about race to colleagues and peers
  • Identify actions to foster inclusivity in your own working environment
  • Identify your own potential for prejudice and have strategies in place to address this with confidence
  • Approach race issues with resilience, and know when to seek advice from relevant University support services
