Beyond Boundaries aims to highlight the work of Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic scientists and mathematicians, while also engaging local schools and young people in showcasing the researchers’ work in art form. The work will be going on public display at Oxford University Museum of Natural History from Friday 30 June – Monday 3 July.

White dwarf pulsar discovery sheds light on star evolution

The discovery of a rare type of spinning white dwarf star in a binary star system – only the second one known – provides a new understanding into the role of magnetic fields in stellar evolution. The research was led by the University of Warwick and supported by, among others, Dr Ian Heywood from the University of Oxford’s Department of Physics.

First Maryam Mirzakhani Scholar announced on International Women in Maths Day
