Online Intro to Public Engagement with Research

Learn about what Public Engagement with Research (PER) is, and how to do it effectively in your own time and at your own pace with our new online course. Acquire a shared language of public engagement, understand the different approaches and opportunities available, gain awareness of the practical considerations of developing activities and projects and get ready to develop your very own projects.  

Short videos, articles and exercises allow you to work on the course in short periods of time, around your other commitments and can be accessed via a browser or the Udemy app. You'll find clear pointers, and tons of inspiration from case studies from Oxford and further afield. The course is divided into easy-to-navigate sections, allowing you to either work through the whole course from start to finish or to jump ahead to the sections most relevant to you right now.  

This course has been developed by public engagement professionals Sam Langford, Sarah Cosgriff and Hana Ayoob. The three trainers have a range of public engagement and science communication experience spanning universities, science centres, community work, science festivals and more.
