Science Together features in new University report
A new report emphasises the importance of the University's positive impact on Oxford and Oxfordshire. It is called 'Beyond Town and Gown: Working Towards a More Inclusive Oxford' and gives an overview of how the University already shares its resources and collaborates with local partners to shape a more positive future. Science Together features as a case study in the report.
Public and Community Engagement with Research - Strategy Launch
Science Together will be at the PCER strategy launch event at Reuben College on 28 February with displays and dialogue activities to engage attendees in finding out more about how we accelerate the impact of university research through local community engagement built on mutually beneficial partnerships.
Body Politic looking for another researcher
Body Politic are a dance company working with young people. Their project involves developing more standardised evaluation tools for them to use, include a pre/post survey to explore their impact on the well-being of young people engaged with their programmes. Down’s Syndrome Oxford (DSO) looking for volunteers for holiday club in May
DSO are piloting a new holiday club for 8-14 years which takes place in Cowley from 27-30 May. They are looking for volunteers who would like to make a positive different to young people with Down’s Syndrome to support the delivery of this club. Science Together researchers interviewed for St Mary’s Lighthouse Radio
On the 12 February, pupils from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Bicester interviewed two Science Together researchers for their ‘Wellbeing Wednesdays’ programme for the school’s Lighthouse Radio on Mixcloud. The ‘Nature Challenges’ which are part of the project will start featuring on the show from the 5 March.
Storytelling Evaluation Supports Science Together Projects
Following two training sessions with the Old Firestation about their Storytelling Evaluation Method used to measure qualitative impact, two Science Together projects are putting it into practice. The team working with Nai’s House are using the approach to assess the impact of suicide prevention training on police officers. The team working with Sound Resource are using it to assess the impact of Moving Music concerts on those with dementia and their carers.
