Science Together Legacy Partners
Since the programme launched in 2021, Science Together has fostered collaborations with more than 22 community partners from across Oxfordshire. Over 50 researchers and 30 public engagement facilitators from the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes have actively contributed to this initiative. This year, the programme welcomes the addition of 8 new community partners, alongside the enthusiastic participation of 20 newly engaged researchers and 9 public engagement facilitators.
Science Together 2023–2024
The 2023/24 Science Together projects focus on fostering community resilience and inclusivity through creative and practical initiatives. Collaborating with Oxford researchers, these projects include evaluating the impact of community hubs, youth arts programs, inclusive teaching for non-verbal youth, and support for disadvantaged children’s well-being. Other initiatives target improved access to healthy diets, and the benefits of physical and social activities, such as swing dance, for community well-being.
Science Together 2022–2023
Science Together 2022–2023 saw collaborations with 7 community partners from across Oxfordshire, researchers and public engagement facilitators from University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University working on a diverse range of projects from testing integrated learning for children with complex needs, transforming a garden to explore nature's impact on wellbeing, evaluating key life skills with music involvement, understanding sickle cell anaemia treatments, evaluating the impact of food parcels using data, combatting loneliness in the older generation, and providing STEM education to children from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Science Together Pilot Year 2021–2022
Our pilot year (2021–22) saw 28 researchers from the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University working on a diverse range of projects featuring carbon dioxide absorbing hedgerow pigment paint, an evaluation of the impacts of art sessions on the wellbeing of dementia sufferers, and the interplay between science, technology and hip-hop! These are the eight research projects which have come out of our incredible collaborations. Each one began with a local community group explaining what they would most like to explore.
