Isabella Panella - Enterprising Women: Lunch and Learn
Isabella Panella, Senior Manager, Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) Pre-Development, Jaguar Land Rover, shared her personal journey and experiences working as a researcher on autonomous vehicles and AI/ Machine Learning in a very male dominated sector, alongside the challenges of working part-time on her PhD.

Isabella shared her personal journey and experiences working as a researcher on autonomous vehicles and AI/ Machine Learning in a very male dominated sector, alongside the challenges of working on her PhD part-time in parallel. Her passion for unmanned systems has led to her role in industry at Jaguar Land Rover, where she is currently responsible for the in-house software development for autonomous driving systems. As well as Isabella’s presentation, there was dedicated time for Q&A and conversation with attendees.

Speaker bio:
Isabella graduated with 1st class honours in Aerospace Engineering from Royal Melbourne Institute of technology and has a Masters in Business and Administration (MBA) from Cranfield University.
Her career started as a Flight Control Systems engineer, working for QinetiQ plc. Her work led to work on military platforms and she spent 11 years of her career working on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVS) in a variety of roles. She then moved to Rolls-Royce plc, where she worked on new engine development, IoT, Big Data, and Integrated Vehicle Health Management. She then headed up the global systems team for UTC Aerospace Systems and is responsible to sign off the Systems Document for the certification of primary and secondary flight control system.
