Professor Cui holds the Donald Pollock Chair of Chemical Engineering since 2000. His research focuses on bioprocessing and regenerative biomedical engineering. He is a Fellow of Royal Academy of Engineering, and a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. 

Within MPLS, Prof Cui coordinates major research projects and initiatives related to China. In particular, he is the Founding Director of OSCAR, the Division's only overseas research centre, located in Suzhou, China.
