From water to weather, fuel to food; from how we power our homes to how we protect the landscape around us, Oxford’s cross-disciplinary research approach is driving forward our understanding of the complexities and interactions of human activity and the sustainability of our environment. Our researchers are working with partners in industry, government, the third sector and at other universities to address these challenges and to propose innovative approaches and solutions, bringing together multidisciplinary teams across engineering, geography, infrastructure researchers, social science, plant science, zoology and physics. Successful outputs of this approach include the £15 million DfID REACH programme, a global research programme to improve water security for the poor, and countless examples of advisory inputs to government committees and reviews.
