MPLS IT and AV Award
THE MPLS IT and AV Awards celebrate improvements and excellence in IT and AV provision by teams and individuals within or across MPLS departments.
Eligibility

The awards are open to all IT and AV staff in the MPLS Division. Teams can be nominated. Staff must be employed within an MPLS department to be eligible.
Nominations
Nominations are invited from heads of department, academics and professional services staff. Nominators should have direct knowledge of the nominee’s contribution relevant to the award criteria. Self-nominations are also welcome. Individuals may apply directly or be nominated by one or more colleagues.
How to apply
The application process is intended to be light touch.
Applications must be submitted via the online form by Wednesday 17 June 2026.
Applications should include a clear, evidence-based account of:
- the activity or work undertaken
- the contribution of the individual or team
- how the work meets at least two of the criteria

Criteria
Successful awards are expected to include evidence of two or more of the following criteria
1. Service quality and reliability
- Delivery of high-quality, reliable IT and AV services that meet user needs
- Evidence of improved system performance, availability, or support responsiveness
- Effective management of incidents, issues, or service continuity
2. User-focused delivery
- Clear focus on user needs (staff, students, researchers)
- Demonstrable improvements to user experience or accessibility
- Use of feedback or data to shape and improve services
3. Innovation and service improvement
- Introduction of new technologies, tools, or approaches that enhance provision
- Measurable improvements in efficiency, usability, or capability
- Willingness to challenge and improve existing systems or processes
4. Collaboration and integration
- Effective working across departments, divisions, or with central IT
- Contribution to joined-up, consistent approaches in a devolved environment
- Sharing of good practice or solutions across MPLS
5. Delivery and execution
- Successful implementation of IT projects or enhancements
- Delivery to agreed scope, time and quality standards
- Ability to manage complexity, risk and change
6. Impact and sustainability
- Clear, evidenced impact on teaching, research, administration, or operations
- Improvements that are sustained over time, not one-off fixes
- Consideration of long-term maintainability, scalability and resource use
Assessment process
Applications will be reviewed by a judging panel (chaired by Wes Armour) against the published criteria. The strongest application will receive an award.
