This award will recognise high-quality public engagement, both of pharmacology research and inspiring the public about pharmacology generally. The award comes with a cash prize.

The British Pharmacological Society are celebrating a broad range of activities that engage the public about Pharmacology, both of pharmacology research and inspiring the public about pharmacology generally.

It will also raise awareness within the pharmacology community of the importance of demonstrating pharmacology across a diverse range of public audiences.


Types of Engagement

  • Activities that share pharmacology research with public groups – this could include broadcasting, exhibitions, social media activities or public lectures.
  • Activities that inform the public about pharmacology and its role in either human or animal health – this could include outreach projects in schools, online or in the local community.

Nominations can only be made by Society members, however nominees can be members, non-members, and individuals or teams. Self-nominations are encouraged.

Winners will receive £1,000, be presented with the award during Pharmacology 2024, and be invited to share details of their initiative.

Criteria

  • Relevance to pharmacology
  • Quality of the initiative
  • Evidence of qualitative or quantitative evaluations which show the benefits or outcomes from the engagement and how it could evolve.
  • Efforts to ensure accessibility of participation will also be considered regarding equity, diversity and inclusion.

Deadline for nominations is 30 June 2024.
