European Society for Paediatric Infectious Disease Distinguished Award for Communication

The European Society for Paediatric Infectious Disease (ESPID) has announced the Distinguished Award for Communication, aimed at recognising individuals who have demonstrated exceptional excellence in public communication of science related to paediatric infectious diseases. ESID have a strong commitment to promoting public awareness and understanding of critical health issues.

ESPID is especially interested in recognizing innovation and reach, which includes but is not limited to:

• Authorship and publication of books for both specialist and non-specialist readerships.
• Effective utilization of electronic media and social networking.
• Engagement with written and broadcast journalism.

While age and qualifications are not limiting factors, the award is designed to acknowledge unusually effective, sustained, or committed efforts in this field. Joint awards may be granted for collaborative efforts of outstanding merit.

The recipient(s) of this award will have the opportunity to present their work at the annual ESPID meeting. Additionally, the winner will receive:

• Complimentary registration, travel (as per ESPID rules), and accommodation for the upcoming ESPID annual meeting.
• The ESPID Distinguished Award for Communication medal.
• A citation in the Paediatric Infectious Diseases Journal.

Nomination involves submission of online nominations should be completed by at least one ESPID member, and should include a formal letter that includes appropriate examples of the nominee's communication work.
