Institute of Physics Awards, deadline for nominations 31 Jan 2025
Nominations are now open for the 2025 Institute of Physics Awards - including three for outstanding public engagement.
The Institute of Physics (IOP) Awards recognise the achievements of individuals and teams in all aspects of physics.
They are offered in four different categories that relate to different stages/scales of achievements.
Self-nominations are welcome.
In 2025 there are three awards related to public engagement:
William Thomson, Lord Kelvin Medal and Prize - A gold award for public engagement in physics. This is awarded in odd-numbered years and comes with a prize of £1,000 and a certificate.
Lise Meitner Medal and Prize - A silver award for distinguished contributions to public engagement within physics.
This is awarded in odd-numbered years, and comes with a prize of £1,000 and a certificate.
Mary Somerville Medal and Prize - A bronze award for exceptional early career contributions to public engagement in physics. This medal comes with a prize of £1,000 and a certificate.
There are additionally four awards for Physics education:
- Lawrence Bragg Medal and Prize
- Marie Curie-Sklodowska Medal and Prize
- Daphne Jackson Medal and Prize
- Teachers of Physics Award
