The John Maddox Prize from Sense About Science and Nature is a prestigious award presented annually to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to promoting sound science on a matter of public interest, whilst facing difficulty or hostility in doing so.

In the realm of scientific research, where the pursuit of truth is often met with challenges ranging from scepticism to outright hostility, the John Maddox Prize emerges as a beacon of recognition and support. Named in honour of Sir John Maddox, whose editorship at Nature for over two decades was marked by his dedication to engaging the public in the complexities of science, the prize celebrates the spirit of courage and integrity in research.
