The British Science Association (BSA) is currently accepting event proposals for the British Science Festival 2025, scheduled to take place in Liverpool from 10 to 14 September 2025. This festival, hosted in partnership with the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University, celebrates science in its broadest sense and is free and open to all.
Objectives:
- Showcase Cutting-Edge Science: Present the latest developments in science and technology.
- Engage Diverse Audiences: Foster open discussions on issues affecting culture and society.
- Challenge Perceptions: Encourage creative content that redefines what science is and can be.
Proposal Submission:
- Eligibility: Individuals, researchers, industry professionals, artists, writers, organisations, charities, academic institutions, and more are invited to propose events.
- Target Audience: Non-specialist young adults (16–30 years old), particularly from underserved and underrepresented groups in science; those with a broad interest in science but who don’t actively seek to engage with it; and individuals interested in cultural experiences or with a personal connection to a particular field of science.
- Event Formats: A range of participatory formats is encouraged, moving beyond traditional lecture-style events to include talks, drop-in activities, and creative content.
Additional Information:
Exact venues and locations will be selected and confirmed in Spring 2025. Events may be hosted in cultural venues, shopping centres, community venues, and university campuses.
The festival has a limited budget available for selected events, prioritising those that work with communities underrepresented in science and are led by freelance or unwaged practitioners.
The Deadline for applications is 23:59 (UK time) on Monday, 20 January 2025.
