This one-hour webinar explores the newly launched Good Practice Standards developed by the Public Engagement in Data Research Initiative (PEDRI).

When: 10 April 2025, 13:30–14:30 (UK time)

Where: Online

Hosted by: PEDRI, which unites different UK organisations working with data and statistics to improve how they all work with the public.

How do we make sure the public voice truly shapes how data is used in research?

This one-hour webinar explores the newly launched Good Practice Standards developed by the Public Engagement in Data Research Initiative (PEDRI). These standards offer a practical framework for building transparency, trust, and inclusion into the data research process—co-created with researchers and members of the public over a two-year period.

You’ll hear directly from those involved in shaping the standards, including researchers, public partners, and engagement professionals. The session will provide useful insights for anyone working in public engagement, data ethics, or research involving data from everyday life—like health records, supermarket loyalty schemes, or fitness apps.

Speakers include:

  • Shayda Kashef (ADR UK)

  • Piotr Teodorowski (University of Stirling)

  • Jan Speechley (PEDRI Public Partner)

  • Hosted by Anna Woolman (HDRUK)

Whether you're curious about best practice, community co-design, or simply want to learn more about embedding the public voice in data research, this is a great opportunity to explore the growing field of ethical, engaged data science.
