We are delighted to announce the winner of the 2025-2026 MPLS Excellence in Estates and Facilities Support Award. This award celebrates the support provided by teams who maintain and manage our buildings and estate; recognising colleagues who provide the operational backbone and the often less visible impact of estates and facilities work.

This year's winner was selected by a panel chaired by Professor David Wallom, Associate Head (Capital, Estates, and Safety), from nominations spanning MPLS.

Adam Hardy – Department of Chemistry

Over the past three years, Adam has significantly strengthened health and safety management within the Department of Chemistry by taking on a range of specialist safety responsibilities, despite joining without a formal health and safety background. He enhanced governance for biological and radiation safety, supported the successful commissioning of the OxIME cyclotron facility, and introduced a comprehensive, data-driven laboratory inspection programme that has improved accountability and continuous improvement across the department. The inspection processes Adam has developed have also attracted interest from other departments, demonstrating their wider value across the University.
