Founded in 1652 and designated as the German National Academy of Sciences in 2008, the Leopoldina is one of the most ancient and revered academic societies globally. Election to the academy represents the highest academic distinction awarded in Germany, acknowledging individuals who have significantly advanced their respective fields.
