About

The Royal Society has announced the opening of a call for nominations of UK-based researchers with their strategic partners, the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, for the 75th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting, dedicated to Interdisciplinary research.

Please note, applications will therefore be welcome from those researching at the intersection of at least two Nobel disciplines (physic, chemistry and physiology or medicine) or at the intersection of one Nobel discipline and another discipline from the social or natural sciences.

The meeting will be held from 28 June to 3 July 2026 on the island of Lindau, situated on Lake Constance in south Germany. Up to 600 talented young researchers are expected to take part, meeting with Nobel Laureates. Further information about the meeting is available on the website of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings.

Nomination to the meeting is a highly competitive process, only internal candidates that have demonstrated an exceptional academic and research track record should consider submitting.

Internal Selection process

Oxford may nominate one researcher at postgraduate and/or postdoctoral level who will be considered by the Royal Society to attend the 75th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting.

In line with the Lindau Review Panel’s eligibility criteria, applications are welcomes from:

  • Doctoral (DPhil) students who have performed excellent research, documented, for example, by publications, conference presentations, grants or other academic awards.
  • Postdoctoral scientists who are at an early career stage (i.e. up to 5 years of postdoctoral experience), do not yet hold an independent group leader position, have presented their work at international scientific meetings, preferably as (invited) speakers, have published excellent research, in refereed journals as first, last, and/or corresponding author.

Oxford will therefore be running an internal selection process across MPLS, the Medical Sciences Division and the Social Sciences Division in light of the interdisciplinary focus of this meeting. Please note, departments are capped at submitting 3 applicants to the internal selection process.
