The British Ecological Society’s Ecological Engagement Award celebrates ecologists who go beyond the lab or field to engage the wider public with the science of ecology. There is a £1,000 cash prize.
The British Ecological Society’s Ecological Engagement Award celebrates ecologists who go beyond the lab or field to engage the wider public with the science of ecology.
This award recognises individuals who are actively working in ecology and have made a substantial contribution to public engagement—through outreach, communication, or cross-disciplinary work that connects science with society. Activities might include digital content, public talks, media engagement, or collaborative projects with communities, artists, or educators.
The winner will receive a £1,000 honorarium and be recognised at the BES Annual Meeting.
Nomination criteria:

The nominee must be actively working in ecology

Their engagement should be significant in scale or impact

National or international reach and creativity will be considered
