The Royal Society of Chemistry offers grants to support members, individuals and organisations to run chemistry-based public and schools engagement activities. The scheme has deadlines throughout 2025.

The Royal Society of Chemistry outreach fund offers funds that enable members, individuals and organisations to run chemistry-based public and schools engagement activities.

The RSC supports projects that:

  • Develop chemists’ public engagement and science communication skills - building capacity and opportunities for chemists and chemical scientists to engage with schools and public audiences
  • Engage with school students - inspiring and raising aspirations of student audiences to nurture a future generation passionate about the chemical sciences
  • Engage with public audiences - involving a wide range of people in relevant contemporary issues in the chemical sciences
  • Provide under-represented audiences, communities and places with inspiring chemistry engagement opportunities, delivered or coordinated by skilled people

They are particularly interested in funding work with under-served and under-represented audiences including people with disabilities and people facing social, economic and educational disadvantages. They provide a list of specific priority groups on their website.

Applicants may include society members, member-led groups, researchers in academia or industry, museums, community groups, non-profit organisations, arts groups and libraries. They should seek to engage with members and member groups. All activity must take place within the UK or Republic of Ireland.

Up to £10,000 is available.

There are rolling deadlines throughout 2025:

  • 14 March
  • 6 June
  • 3 October
