New opportunity for established researchers to directly impact policy challenges in Oxfordshire, deadline 7 May
The Local Policy Lab – an alliance between the University of Oxford, Oxford Brookes University and Oxfordshire County Council – is recruiting three Chief Scientific Advisers (CSAs). Up to £50,000 is available to support activities and time commitment.
Are you a researcher with experience in policy engagement, systems thinking, or collaborative leadership? The Local Policy Lab is offering a unique opportunity to help steer the development of a bold, co-produced research agenda that tackles some of Oxfordshire’s most pressing challenges.
Three Chief Scientific Adviser (CSA) roles are currently open, each focused on a thematic area where research can drive real-world impact:
-
Enabling children and young people to thrive
-
Delivering inclusive growth, a skilled workforce, and fair employment
-
Addressing inequalities and ensuring a healthy standard of living for all
Each CSA will remain in their current university role but receive up to £50,000 (from the ESRC IAA) to support their time commitment, collaborative activities, and engagement with Oxfordshire County Council and other partners. You’ll spend regular time with local policymakers and contribute independent, evidence-based advice that influences services, strategy, and long-term decision-making.
This is more than a policy advisory post - it’s a chance to co-create a three-year research agenda that is grounded in lived experience and oriented toward meaningful local change.
Deadline for applications: noon, Wednesday 07 May 2025.
