The Universities Policy Engagement Network (UPEN), in partnership with the Government Office for Science, has launched a new pairing scheme aimed at strengthening connections between universities and government.
This initiative is open to university-based knowledge mobilisers—whether academic, professional services, or technical staff—who support engagement between research and policy. The scheme runs over 12 months and includes:
• Monthly meetings (virtual or in-person, during term time)
• A shadowing opportunity within government
• Active participation in scheduling and evaluation
The scheme is suitable for individuals at any career stage who are committed to deepening their understanding of research-policy exchange.
